Regional Highlights
Gujarat (Saurashtra Belt): After a slow start in February, sowing picked up significantly. Major activity is concentrated in Porbandar, Junagadh, and Amreli. Acreage in Gujarat is running above the three-year average, reflecting strong interest from local farmers.
Other States: States like Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan are also reporting stable to slightly higher sowing figures due to better irrigation availability and seed technology.
Key Risks to Monitor
Heatwaves: The meteorological outlook for April–June suggests above-normal temperatures in Gujarat and Rajasthan, which could stress crops in areas without adequate irrigation.
Gujarat's summer peanut harvest has commenced with limited arrivals. Initial quotes for new crop Java 50/60 grade are hovering between 1,350 and 1,375 USD/PMT CIF for Asian destinations.
